And here are some answers:
Tell me about ordering and pickup...
As new products become available, the website updated, and a list of available products is sent to all of our registered customers by e-mail on Sundays. We deliver the CSA shares on Wednesdays, so we can deliver our online products easily to these locations. To order our farm fresh products, simply go online, create an account, and place an order.
As for timing your order, the goal is to get your order to us in time for us to harvest, package and deliver it to your pickup site. We begin our weekly delivery schedule on Wednesdays. Our scheduled CSA delivery/pickup location is at the Farm, from 4 pm to 7 pm. So our CSA shareholders should place their order for any extras for the week no later than Monday at 6:00 p.m. so we have time to harvest their order by Wednesday morning.
We want to work with all our valued customers, but we need at least 24 – 48 hours notice to harvest and prep your order. So order early in the week, as new items are posted on Sundays, and the good stuff usually goes first!
When do I pay?
We accept cash or checks when you pick up your order. Because we may have to adjust your total then (to account for unnanounced items you decide to purchase or items that were unexpectedly unavailable), we do not accept advance payment on the website.
When and Where do I pick up my order?
Unless you have made other arrangements with us, deliveries will be available for pickup Wednesdays at the Farm, located at 2440 Winterville Road in Athens (zip code is 30605). The Farm is located just past the Airport and is easy to find. Contact the Joe or Jen (706-870-9131) if you need directions or have a problem.
Why Support Locally Grown?
Enhance your local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.
Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.
Provide learning opportunities: Locally Grown supporters provide member growers the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.
Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.
We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society’s overall health.
